Submission Guidelines for Authors

1. Introduction

Thank you for your interest in submitting your work to Story Seed Press. We value creativity, originality, and authentic storytelling. To ensure fairness, transparency, and legal clarity for both parties, these Submission Guidelines outline our requirements, processes, and terms. By submitting your work to us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these guidelines in full.

 

 

2. Eligibility

We accept submissions from:

  • Authors aged 18 or older, or with written consent from a parent/guardian.

  • Writers of all experience levels, provided the work meets our quality and originality standards.

 

 

3. What We Accept

We currently consider:

  • Children’s Books (picture books, early readers, middle grade)

  • Young Adult & Adult Fiction

  • Select Non-Fiction aligned with our brand values

 

We do not accept:

  • Material that is defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, or promotes hate speech.

  • Plagiarized content or works containing copyrighted material you do not own or have permission to use.

 

 

4. Submission Requirements

Please ensure your submission includes:

  • A cover letter introducing yourself and your work.

  • A synopsis (no more than 1–2 pages).

  • The manuscript (complete for fiction and picture books; proposal/outline acceptable for some non-fiction).

  • Your contact information (email, phone, and mailing address).

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF, unless otherwise stated.

 

 

5. Originality & Rights

By submitting, you confirm that:

  • You are the sole author and owner of the work, or you have full authority to submit it.

  • The work is original and does not infringe on the rights of any third party.

  • No part of the work is under consideration by any other publisher unless you disclose this in writing.

 

 

6. Review Process

  • We review submissions in the order received.

  • Response times vary, but we aim to respond within 8–12 weeks.

  • Due to the high volume of submissions, we cannot provide individual feedback unless your work is selected for further consideration.

 

 

7. No Obligation

Submitting your work does not obligate Story Seed Press to publish it. We reserve the right to reject any submission at our sole discretion.

 

 

8. Confidentiality

We treat all submissions as confidential and will not share your work outside our internal review process without your permission.

 

 

9. No Compensation for Unsolicited Ideas

We do not pay for ideas, concepts, or proposals submitted outside an official agreement. If we proceed with your work, terms will be set out in a separate, written publishing contract.

 

 

10. Changes to Guidelines

Story Seed Press may update these Submission Guidelines at any time without prior notice. The version posted on our website at the time of submission will apply to your work.

 

 

11. Governing Law

These guidelines, and any disputes arising from submissions, are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.
